Work and serve overseas

The main purpose of our Singapore trip is to attend the International Teams East Asia Regional Conference that happens every two years. It's a gathering of International teams Missionaries working in Asia. This year will be our second time.

However, since Singapore has lots of opportunities to work and earn more than what you can earn here in Manila, I also thought of applying for a job there and then settle for good if ever. I just do not know what job I would apply for since tech jobs are what in demand now a day. And I do not have such background.

Of course that plan and thought of mine is subject to God's approval.

I was just thinking how life would be different if we are to work and serve the Lord overseas.
Someday maybe.

We love you Maria!

Our church said goodbye to Maria last Tuesday night. She stayed with us for four weeks and she's a lovely girl. everyone loves her and we were blessed to have her for almost a month. We had beautiful memories with her, although all of her pictures are now lost ( she lost her camera on her last night, left it on the cab) and that was sad but with or without pictures, she will always be remembered.

We love how she chose to stay at the church mission's house with cockroaches and rats everywhere, in a small room which is not even equipped with Kwikset locks, a tiny bed, a shared bathroom without an automatic flush, without a shower (which means they used pail and dipper) but all in all she said she enjoyed her stay.

She willingly ate all the Filipino foods we offered and at least tried to eat balut (but she really can't). She visited a lot of ministries. And was even subjected to an unwanted meeting with a group which ended out so well and celebrated her 20th birthday with us.

We will miss you girl!

Goodbye Winters

This morning Laura and Sue Winter, flew back to England, last night Rachel Winter went ahead of them. They stayed here in Manila for three weeks and helped us in Fishnets ministries. They were in the feeding ministry, they were also involved in the carnival fair for the kids, and Sue did a talk on nutrition and healthy foods. Laura and Rachel attended youth services, shared their testimony and did a lot of things.

I did not have the chance to see them this morning because our motorbike is broken and we were late so it’s quite sad but we will see each other again soon.

It is always nice when we received visitors from other countries, they got to experience our culture and we on the other hand have a glimpse of theirs.

Last night, they tried to eat balut. (one of the exotic food here in the Philippines). For the duration of their stay here, they ate rice for every meal. They had potatoes for breakfast and a lot more weird and wonderful experience they will never forget.

 

Surely, we will miss you all. We will wait for your next visit. We love you.

Welcome Dinner

Last night the whole Fishnets Ministry Team gave a welcome dinner for our four visitors. We had a sumptuous dinner at dampa.And you can say I forgot all about diet and all the diet pill reviews I read. :)

The buttered shrimp is so yummy!! and of course I always loved baked tahong (mussels) and guess whose plate is this?

Update: Hubby's mission trip in Malaysia

He left Monday so it's been four days now. I was actually worried when he left because we have heard a lot of missionary being sent back by Malaysian immigration for reasons we do not know but Praise God he is there now and is helping our Pastor in their work there.

We talked over the phone yesterday and he's alright. He knows it is what God wants for him to do, He said they are visiting churches and teaching music mostly musical instruments and reaching out for the non believers there. They have loads of schedule and I'm sure he's overwhelmed but they are fine. He thought of it as order fulfillment or order being fulfilled at some sort.

When he gets back, we will surely talk if we will go there and stay for long term. After all, we've been praying for His direction for us since January of this year and we know eventually that we are going out of our country to be missionaries.

Please continue to pray for him, for God's protection to them and for the provision of their every need.

Ministry Visitors from UK

Our visitors (missionaries) from UK arrived yesterday and they will be here for one month. It’s good to have them and share with them the Philippine culture, the ministries and experience God together thru these ministries. They are staying in our church, their room I’m sure is beyond compare to what they have back home, it’s just a bed and a wardrobe cabinet and a table as small as tv stand but I do pray they will enjoy their time here.

I guess I’ll be more, I don’t know how to say this, well a good friend of mine who work with the ministry had to rest for a while and she’s a big part of the ministry so I guess part of her job will be given to me. I just hope she’ll recover soon and find in her heart to be with us again.

So I have quite problems with the schedules now but I’m sure we can work it out.

The two major activities (CLEANSING DAY) will push through as scheduled.

Orientation will be tomorrow and they’ll be reporting to International Teams office also. I already asked someone to do that in the absence of my friend.

FISHNETS ministry as new as it is needs a lot of prayer, so I hope it is not too much for me to ask you to please do pray for us.

Ministry Updates

This is busy month. There are two short term missionaries coming on the 2nd of August and they’ll be staying in our church. Another couple is coming on the 16th and they will stay for two weeks. There are two cleansing day happening on August 22 and August 29, there is Jam night (youth event) and one Manila tour for our visitors. All of that in the month of August. I know I won’t need any weight loss pill this month because I’ll be doing a lot of work. But Guess what? It feels good though I know there will be lots of headaches and hard work to do because this is what I really want to do. There is a big difference when work gets toxic at the office. Oftentimes I feel burnt out and tired. But not when you know you are doing what God wants you to do, when you are doing what He has called you to do.

Thankful Thursday

Laurie talked about Family today especially about Fathers. I've got my father looks and yes, when people see me they see the family resemblance and I hope It's the same thing with my spiritual family.

I thank God for my "tatay" (dad), he may not be the best dad in the world but there is no question on how much he loves us, I often hear him telling his friends how good we are ( he's so proud of us all) and I love it. I mean we're not also perfect children but to hear your dad bragging about you that's something. He is quite old now and yet he is still in perfect health, my only prayer is for him to completely receive Jesus and be the Lord of his life.

For this week I am also thankful for the two young missionaries that are serving here in Manila particularly helping us (fishnets) in our ministry.

Liz is from North Carolina and just arrived last Friday and she's so lovely! She will be here for two weeks (praying she'll come back again for a long term) . I can see the Lord in her life, she's a sweet sweet blessing.


Rachel is from UK and is here for the second time. She's working with us in the children and youth ministry. She will be staying for one year here. She has a very generous heart. Beautiful soul. She has a kind heart.

May the Lord bless these young ladies as they continue to serve the Lord!!
