Thankful Thursday

Today is Thankful Thursday and even if I am in the midst of “needs” and of “testings” I will not stop myself from making this post and give glory and thanks to our Lord.

(First) Okay so to start, our lone computer at home gave up on us last Tuesday, for reasons my hubby do not know It just wouldn’t boot, so that means I can’t work (paid blogging) at home. And God knows I needed that extra income more than anything now….

(Second) that my dad phoned me and told me that mom is sick and that she needs to see a doctor which means I have to send money for that.

And lastly our electric bill is now overdue and we’ve now got a disconnection notice.

So you think there’s nothing to be thankful for right? Wrong..because in situation like this, you find more reasons to thank God.

I thank Him for I have good friends and housemate who willingly lend us their laptop at night.

I thank God that until now we still have electricity and I’m sure it will not be disconnected until we paid the bill which is later today. (I claim we can pay it today)

And lastly, I am thankful that my paid blogging money will arrive tomorrow.

I just can’t help but shout that GOD IS GOOD and ALL THE TIME!!!

Hang on to Lynn's post today and be blessed by her "rat" and "laugh" story. I tell you I was blessed and saw God laughing.

The Attitude of an Overcomer

Today’s Verse: “For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith” (I John 5:4, NIV).

Today’s Word:

Are you facing some challenges or experiencing some unexpected setbacks? We all have things that come against us, but God didn’t create us to be overwhelmed and overcome; He created us to be overcomers!

During those times when we do face challenges, it’s our attitude that is really most important. Think about it for a minute. When something isn’t going your way month after month, how do you respond? Are you tempted to get sour or start expecting the worst? Does your mind start going “ninety-to-nothing” playing out all the scenarios? It may be easy to get down and discouraged, but if we go around thinking it’s never going to work out, our attitude limits what God can do. But when we dig our heels in knowing that God is bigger than our problems and that He already has a way out, when we fight the good fight of faith, that’s what allows God to show up and turn negative situations around.

Today, remember, you are created to overcome. There is victory already in store for your future. Stand strong with the attitude of an overcomer and watch what God will do on your behalf!

Prayer for Today: Father in heaven, thank You for making me an overcomer in Christ Jesus. I trust that You are bigger than my problems and that You are working on my behalf. Thank You for the victory in store for my future! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Sleepless in Makati

I've been sleeping less and less again for almost a week now but I don't want to complain because I know I am not wasting those precious hours. But then health should be a priority also otherwise I'll be spending hard earned money for medicines or doctors and that is the last thing I want to happen. Maybe that is why others are keen on having health insurance. I don't have one except for the government health benefits that we are required to pay out of our salary which for sure is very far from the benefits of NC health insurance.

Today, we've been to two parties and right now I am still full so I don't want to sleep yet and I guess I won't be able to sleep with the two cups of coffee I just had hours ago.

I've finally finish the make over of my new domain, if you have time, please feel free to check it here.

Enjoy your weekend!!!

Just finish typing the songs for the worship service tomorrow, I feel bad because I just posted yesterday that we should be resting early Saturday night, oh well at least my dear husband is. I on the other hand was left to do the typing and to surf a bit on weight loss supplement reviews. But mind you he reminded me to just do what I have to do and not play facebook games tonight.

So being the obedient wife that I should be, I will just wrap up this post and hit the sack!

I hope I'll wake up early tomorrow and not be grumpy. :)

Enjoy your weekend everyone and don't forget to go to church! remember that One week without Christ/church makes one weak.:)

Preparing for Sunday morning service

I read a good article/devotional yesterday. And because I read it while I am in the office, I printed it out and shared it to dear husband last night. I just feel it's very timely for us and I know we need it.

The article talks about preparing for Sunday morning service. You see, I have this very bad habit of staying up late during weekends and so most of the time I am having hard time waking up early for Sunday Service, though I am very very seldom late for the worship service proper, I am always late for the prayer and pre-worship before the service. I feel bad because our Pastor asked or rather required us to be there because we are part of the music team.

Now, on that article the author said on Item number

5: Rest long enough Saturday night to be alert and hopeful Sunday morning.

Not that I do not know it but I admit I often take it for granted, I think that Sunday worship begins Sunday morning but nope I was wrong, it should start Saturday night. The author also said that " without sufficient sleep, our minds are dull, our emotions are flat, our proneness to depression is higher, and our fuses are short.

Now, the husband and I made resolutions that we will never sleep late again on Saturday night except for unavoidable circumstances but for now, no more movies, no more internet surfing, no more facebook on Saturday evening, instead we will just meditate on God's word and pray and maybe put on some night cream and sleep.

If you want to read the whole article, you can find it here.

Donate to HAITI

World rushes to help Haiti, relief and donations are flooding but I read that there is still a shortage of food and water. Let's do our part, let us help in our own little way, maybe instead of planning to buy diet pills online why not donate online? When manila was hit by the big flood last September, a lot of organization has opened up donations online so I am sure there are many online ways to help Haiti also. In fact you can do it through RED CROSS. If you can not do it online, there is also the text messages just make sure to check that it is not a scam as a lot of people will also take this opportunity to do that and so with online donations, be cautious in giving your donations which I'm sure was a hard earned money.

SALVATION ARMY accepts text donation as well as YELE through the effort of the hip hop artist Wycleaf Jean.

Youth Service

I am going to speak to the youth service on the 24th of this month, this would be my first time to speak to youth as in teenagers. I'm used to speaking to young adults like twenty above because that's the age group I handled when I was still single. But now, I am going to speak to youth whose ages are fourteens, sixteens and maybe thirteen years old girls and boys.

I still do not know what to say, haven't picked up a topic yet. One thing for sure though, I will not talk on youthology issues or about staying young forever but I am thinking of talking about how can they be of help in the body of Christ even at their young age. I am also thinking and praying if it is the right time to talk about purity or true love waits or dating. I still have to wait for what God will tell me.

Please pray for me and for these young people, pray that i will only share what God has asked me to share and that they may get something from it.

Thankful Thursday

It’s been a while since I posted a Thankful Thursday entry. I have no reason not to be thankful at all because God has been good to me. There maybe some hardship every now and then but still God is good all the time.

For this week, I would like to thank my Father in Heaven for the following:

1. My dad celebrated his 73rd birthday last Saturday. No big celebration just us, his immediate family, the grandkids sang his birthday song and the granddaughter blew his cake. It was a great day! Thank you Lord for giving him another year.

2. For the provision till the next payday which is tomorrow. God has been faithful to our every single need.

3. I am also thankful for my boss who understood and allowed me to join my husband in his next mission trip and that means leaving office for almost six weeks. Instead of resigning he said I could I just take that as vacation. Praise God!!

4. For the ministry-I would like to thank God for whatever He will let us do this year, right now I have something in my heart but me and hubby are still praying for it. I am still waiting for His word.

So there is my list for this week, I will again be busy this coming week but I hope I always find time to do this weekly meme as I have time searching for cheap and nice eye creams or beauty products there is. Sometimes I even have time to play stuff at facebook so I hope I will not forget to do this.

What are you thankful for this week my blog friends? Share it with all the thankful ladies at LYNN's blog.

There is hope-Haiti

I know most of you by now have heard about the Haiti earthquake that devastated almost whole of the capital city of Haiti.

I just showed my dear husband the pictures and videos a while ago and watching videos in you tube makes me even more sad especially reading some of the comments. Some questioned the existence of God, some even said harsher words. Very very sad.

I know it is hard to comprehend why God would allow this kind of tragedy but who can explain God's mind?

Our small country has been hit by tragedies also last year but I am thankful that our people never questioned God and our people still believed that yes there is God in spite of these disasters.

I hope I can do something to help in my own little way, I hope those who can would help, I hope people would be more sensitive to the need of the others and stop thinking about themselves for a while, for all we know even as thousand of people there are trying to fight for their lives others are thinking about the best wrinkle creams they will buy.

I hope people will still believe that there is God and that HE is still in control.

I hope that victims will still see hope amidst this tragedy.

I can only pray and hope.

Happy 73rd Birthday Tatay!

My tatay (father) is 73 today and I want to thank God for the gift of life. And I pray that He would still give my father more birthday celebration with us. Today we had lunch at my sister's house and I can see how happy my father is, we were all there (except for my brother's family in Pangasinan but it's ok because they were with them naman last New year). We ordered a whole roasted pig (lechon baboy) just for the whole family. :)

I wish I could give my father a nice vacation somewhere so he and mom can relax a bit, that's one of my dream for them, I want them to see more of the Philippines, experience a nice hotel like los cabos hotels in Mexico. Have fun at the beach with their grand kids, go to parks, visit zoobic safari, visit their relatives.

It's not too late I know, they maybe in their old age but they are still both healthy and I know they would still love to travel.

Again, thank you Lord for giving my dad long life, please give him more so he would see his grandchild with us.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TATAY!!
